Comfort

How we keep you comfortable

What we use, who gives it and how we watch over you, so nothing in the chair is a surprise.

  • Numbing

We numb the area before we start. If you still feel something, raise a hand and we add more.

  • Nitrous oxide

A gas that takes the edge off. You stay awake, breathe on your own and can talk with us the whole time.

  • Deeper sedation

We don't give sedation that makes you drowsy or unconscious in this office. If you need it, we refer you to a provider who does.

  • Who gives it

Your dentist gives the numbing and the nitrous oxide, and a trained team member stays in the room.

  • How we watch over you

We check how you are breathing and feeling throughout, and we stop whenever you ask.

  • Before and after

When you book, we tell you whether to eat first and whether you need a ride home.

Sample content.

The kind of sedation a dentist may give depends on the permit the state dental board has issued. Ask which permit your dentist holds.

  • Swelling that spreads to your face, eye or neck, trouble breathing or swallowing, a serious blow to the head, or bleeding that won't stop needs emergency care now. Go to an emergency room or call 911. If a tooth is knocked out or broken, call our office right away.
